Theatre: Toilet Paper Diaries at Disrupt Disability Arts Festival

8 Mar 2025 (Past)

Project Arts Centre, 39 Essex St East, Temple Bar, Dublin 2

A raw and heartfelt piece of theatre by Porcelain Delaney about childhood dreams, medical gaslighting and the fight to be heard, followed by in-conversation with Sue Rainsford as part of Disrupt Disability Arts Festival.

Taking place on Endometriosis Awareness Month and coinciding with International Women’s Day, Toilet Paper Diaries is a play written and performed by Porcelain Delaney. It follows thirty-year-old Eloise on a pivotal day, waiting anxiously in a room, unsure how to process the enormity of what lies ahead. As she delves into her childhood diaries, we meet a joyful nine-year-old Eloise, a promising ballerina certain of her future stardom, until the onset of her period derails her dreams. Suddenly thrust into a battle with dismissive doctors, Eloise refuses to be silenced, fighting to be heard. This heartbreaking and hilarious tale is visually evocative and will deeply resonate with anyone with endometriosis or another condition which has led to medical gaslighting.

The performance will be followed by an in-conversation with Irish writer Sue Rainsford, whose work explores themes of the body, illness, and transformation, topics that deeply resonate with the endo experience and spark important conversations about bodily autonomy and pain.

A touch tour will take place 30 minutes prior to the event. For more information or to book, visit disruptfestival.ie
