Dance: Change by Croí Glan at Dance Cork Firkin Crane

14 - 15 Mar 2025 (Past)

Dance Cork Firkin Crane, John Redmond Street, Shandon, Cork

Change by Croí Glan is a hope-filled reimagining of the world in these unprecedented times, premiering at Dance Cork Firkin Crane on Friday 14 and  Saturday 15 March 2025.

With diverse bodies from diverse lands, this dance theatre piece draws on the climate impacts experienced by its international and Irish cast. Rebecca Solnit’s Not Too Late and Christiana Figueres’s The Future We Choose offer further inspiration for the piece, which has been created in collaboration with scientists from the Environmental Research Institute at UCC.

About Change

Dancers Yves Lorrhan (Brazil), Oran Leong (Ireland/Malaysia), Rachel Paul (France), Andrea Williams (the Republic of Cabo Verde) and Bobbi Byrne (Ireland) will be on stage, with additional research provided by dancers Alex Legrain (France), Tanya Turner (Ireland/Czech Rep), Yumi Lee (S. Korea), Rocio Dominguez (Argentina), Justine Cooper (New Zealand) and Anderson da Souza (Brazil). Olivier Award nominee Benji Bower is the composer and sound designer for Change, with Deirdre Dwyer re-purposing and recycling items to create the set and costumes.

Change explores hope in the face of adversity, and the building of resilience through connection, diversity, and community. Ultimately the work is a celebration of interconnectedness, bringing us back to the things that we thought we had lost.

Made in collaboration with scientists from the Environmental Research Institute at UCC, and inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s Not Too Late, Change explores hope in the face of adversity. Building resilience through connection, diversity and community, Change reveals personal experiences and feelings precipitated by these unprecedented times.
