In this 2-day dance workshop Kimberley invites you to join her in a curious and creative space where we will explore different ways to ‘meet’ and dance with ourselves and each other. Kimberley will offer various exercises and creative tasks as a way to delve into the different possibilities of your own individual way of moving. From there, we will then see what it can mean to work with, alongside or in connection with others. The workshop will draw on Kimberley’s experience of the contemporary dance sector and inclusive practice as well as themes directly related to her work with Subtle Kraft.
This workshop is open to individuals over 18 with and without disabilities, including dance practitioners, movement artists, and anyone interested in exploring inclusive dance practice. Registration is for the 2 days only.
About the workshop host
Kimberley Harvey (she/her) is a disabled dance artist who performs, choreographs and teaches (and sometimes writes too!) She has performed in a variety of settings for stage, outdoor festivals and site-specific pieces in both contemporary dance and physical theatre. She also had the pleasure of being a ‘Visiting Artist’ at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital over a number of years. As well as working as a dance artist for others, Kimberley also has her own inclusive contemporary dance company, Subtle Kraft Co. Their work centres around relationships in their various forms and with all of the complexities. Their work focuses on live performance and film with communication, connection and curiosity extending across everything they do.
Kimberley had an association with Candoco Dance Company for over 20 years in a variety of contexts. This included as an Associate Artist, teacher and most recently she was the Director of Artist Development and Young People until October 2023. Currently, Kimberley works for Holland Dance Festival in several roles. She is their ‘Expert Collaborator for Europe Beyond Access 2 and she will be the co-curator of the DanceAble Symposium alongside Irene van Zeeland again in 2026 (which they also co-curated in 2022 and 2024).
