Fire Station Artists’ Studios Skills 2016 – Sculpture Workshop and Skills Programme

FSAS is delighted to announce its 2016 workshop skills programme featuring previous favourites and exciting new glass and 3D printing workshops:
Mould Making Workshop – Level 1 with Ciaran Patterson.
20 – 21 May 2016
Cost: €120
Time: 10am – 5pm
2 day workshop introducing the various stages and materials used in the mould making process. There will be an opportunity to discuss and cast in different materials such as wax and resin. No experience of mould making is required.

Working in Concrete with Agnes Conway
25 – 26 May 2016 or 20 – 21 July 2016
Cost: €120
Time: 10am – 5pm
Participants will be brought through all aspects of working in concrete, from mixing concrete to casting and carving concrete. The workshop will cover working with various mixes such as crushed stone and cement mixes, as well as casting thin shell objects with glass reinforced concrete.

Mould Making Workshop – Level 2 with Ciaran Patterson
24 – 25 June 2016
Cost: €120
Time: 10am – 5pm Building on Level 1, this 2 day workshop focuses on process of mould making and casting objects for a foundry. More advanced mould making processes will be discussed and demonstrated.

Glass Fusing Workshop- Level 1 with Suzannah Vaughan
8 – 9 July 2016
Cost: €120
Time: 10am – 5pm
A 2 day glass fusing introductory class for beginners. The goal for this workshop is to provide all participants with an overall understanding of fused glass and the various techniques involved in the creation of some basic pieces.

The Image & Glass with Deirdre Feeney
12 – 16 September 2016
Cost: €250
Time: 10am – 5pm
This experimental, concept-based five day workshop will explore glass and the image. Participants will look at how glass as a material has been so influential in certain histories of the image and how these ideas can be creatively applied to glass in contemporary art practice.
It will include technical demos and using found and up-cycled glass objects.

3D Printing Workshop:
This practical hands-on 2 day workshop will guide participants through hardware, software, 3D designing, and printing of 3D objects. It will involve working collaboratively between new advancements in 3D technologies, design and printing, with contemporary craft making. All materials provided.
All materials for these courses will be provided.
