Director of Mind’ s Eye Description

Anne Hornsby is a pioneer of British Audio Description. She introduced the service to the Bolton Octagon Theatre in 1989 and established Mind’ s Eye Description in 1992. She describes over 150 events a year in theatres, museums and art galleries and also provides audio description for films, online descriptions and audio recordings.

Anne has worked in many different genres, including drama, ballet, opera, musical theatre, burlesque, Disability Arts, circus, and even for the Zoo! She is an established trainer and a long-standing member of the Audio Description Association Executive. She has presented at Conferences in America and Russia. She is the recipient of two lifetime and special achievement awards – one from the American Association for the Blind and one from the Manchester Theatre Awards Panel. Mind’s Eye has twice been nominated as VI Friendly Business of the Year by Henshaws Charity.
