Visual Art: Mary Cody mid-career solo exhibition at KCAT Arts Centre
2 - 18 Aug 2019 (Past)
Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent announce Mary Cody’s Mid-Career Retrospective Exhibition
Mary first began on the KCAT Art Course in the summer of 1999 and subsequently joined the KCAT Studio. She has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally in a variety of group, duo and solo shows, with most recently a solo show ‘String’ at the University of Atypical, Belfast in January 2019. Since then, she has evolved into a unique and accomplished painter.
Through a process of layering wool and paint, Mary creates abstracted artworks that speak out to the viewer through colour, form and texture. Whereby each piece embodies a unique energy that carefully tenses the boundary between painting and sculpture.
Working and living in L’Arche Community in Callan, Mary joined the KCAT Art Course in its first year of operation in the summer of 1999 and subsequently moved on to the KCAT Studio. Mary has exhibited her work in a variety of group shows and in 2004 her artwork was selected for the cover of the National Intellectual Disability Database Report.
Painting is the medium she prefers most, travelling widely within them, depicting a range of landscapes both national and international.
The exhibition will open on the 2nd of August at 1 – 3pm in KCAT Arts Centre in Callan.
It will continue from 3rd – 18th August 2019, and is open daily from 12-4pm including Saturdays and Sundays.
…it’s good work and I like it.
