Accessible events at the Chester Beatty this autumn range from online events to audio described and dementia friendly tours.

Audio-Descriptive Tour: Arts of the Book
Thursday 24 October at 4pm

A special audio-descriptive tour of selected objects in the Arts of the Book gallery. This tour is designed to enhance the appreciation of art for all visitors, especially those who are blind or visually impaired. The experience will provide vivid descriptions of key visual elements in the artworks, along with insightful information on their cultural, historic, and artistic significance. Limited to 10 participants, this event is free but booking is required.

Dementia-Friendly Tour: Live Online Conversations On Art, Goya’s Nightmares
Wednesday 23 October at 5.30pm

From the comfort of your armchair, join Heidi Campbell for a spooky tour of the Chester Beatty collection. This dementia-inclusive experience will explore three haunting images by artist Francisco Goya. This interactive discussion is limited to 10 participants. This event is free but booking is essential.

Dementia-Friendly Tour: Conversations on Art
Thursday 21 November at 12 noon

Enjoy an afternoon of conversations on art and a tour of our beautiful collections designed for people living with dementia and their loved ones. Together we will explore and consider three exquisite Autumnal pieces of art. Free but booking essential. Limited to 10 participants per tour.

Dementia-Friendly Tour: Live Online Conversations on Art, Angelic Art
Wednesday 4 December at 5:30pm

Join Heidi Campbell for a festive themed online event supported by images from the Chester Beatty collection This dementia-inclusive experience will examine three angelic images of winged beings from various corners of the world. This interactive discussion is limited to 10 participants. Free but booking essential.

Access Information
Please note that the Ship Street Gate of Dublin Castle is the closest entrance to the Chester Beatty. If you are coming by car and you have a Disabled Person’s Parking Permit or Card for people with disabilities, you will be permitted access to the grounds of the Castle, via the Ship Street entrance.  The nearest public car park is Christchurch Carpark.

The Chester Beatty is a wheelchair and buggy-friendly building, with wheelchairs available free of charge. An accessible restroom is located on the ground floor and many of the exhibits are placed at a comparatively low height to facilitate viewing by visitors who use wheelchairs.

The Chester Beatty offers dementia-friendly tours on a regular basis, the lecture theatre is fitted with a loop system, and visitors with guide or service dogs are welcome.
