There are several accessible events coming up at the National Gallery in October 2024.

ISL Tour of An Túr Gloine
Thursday 10 October August 6pm to 7pm
Location: Courtyard, National Gallery of Ireland

Join the Gallery’s Irish Sign Language tour guides for a look at the exhibition An Túr Gloine.

As the Gallery endeavours to make activities and events accessible to the deaf community, they wish to welcome members of the ISL community to the Gallery. This tour is exclusively in Irish Sign Language and will not have any translation available.

An ISL tour of the permanent collection or other temporary exhibitions place at 6pm on the second Thursday of the month.

Audio Described Tour of An Túr Gloine
Thursday 17 October 6pm to 7pm
Location: Courtyard, National Gallery of Ireland

Join the Gallery’s highly trained tour guides for an audio described exploration of the national collection and the exhibition An Túr Gloine. Visitors will be guided  through key parts of the Gallery building and focus on several highlights on display incorporating audio description and discussion.

Please note all public tours are fully accessible to people who are hard of hearing and use a tour guide system with T-loop capabilities.

Open House: Sensory Architecture Tour
Sunday 20 October 11.30am to 12.20pm
Location: Courtyard, National Gallery of Ireland

Experience the National Gallery of Ireland through a mixture of materials, texture, space and sound. In this 40 minute blindfolded visit, a member for the Gallery’s guide panel will guide you around the Gallery’s outdoor and indoor spaces focusing on some of the most architecturally significant parts the Gallery has to offer. By using your other senses, you are invited to place yourself in the solid space and sound around you. This is an outdoor and indoor experience so please prepare for the possibility of bad weather. These will go ahead even if it is raining. It is accessible for visitors who have a visual impairment and people who use wheelchairs.
