There are several accessible events coming up at the National Gallery in May 2025.

Irish Sign Language Tour of Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone
Saturday 10 May, 2.30pm to 3.30pm
Location: Exhibition Desk (near the Millennium Wing entrance)

Join the Gallery’s Irish Sign Language tour guides for a look at Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone. The Art of Friendship. As the Gallery endeavours to make our activities and events accessible to the deaf community, they wish to welcome members of the ISL community to the Gallery. This tour is exclusively in Irish Sign Language and will not have any translation available

Audio Described Tour of Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone, The Art of Friendship
Thursday 22 May, 6pm to 7pm
Location: Courtyard, National Gallery of Ireland

Join the Gallery’s highly trained tour guides for an audio described exploration of Mainie Jellett and Evie Hone. The Art of Friendship. Visitors will be guided through key parts of the Gallery building and focus on several highlights on display incorporating audio description and discussion. This tour is fully accessible to people who are hard of hearing and use a tour guide system with T-loop capabilities.


National Drawing Day Events
Saturday 17 May, all day event
Location: Various locations across the National Gallery of Ireland
In addition to the Gallery’s scheduled accessible events, there are also a number of elements to this year’s National Drawing day with access in mind. This includes

  • Life Drawing Session with artist Fintan Mahon with ISL interpretation, 11am to 12.30pm
  • Public Tour of An Artist’s Presence with ISL interpretation, 1pm to 2pm
  • Public Tour Art for Everyone with ISL interpretation, 2.30pm to 3.30pm

Please note all public tours are fully accessible to people who are hard of hearing and use a tour guide system with T-loop capabilities.
