A modern day fairy-tale, Into the Dark Woods is Charlene Kelly’s debut play. Through the familiar archetypes of fairy-tale, Charlene deftly entices us into rare territory, using the living realm of the woods as an extraordinary invitation into the world as experienced by someone with an intellectual disability.

A new voice in Irish playwriting, Into the Dark Woods is a subtle, powerful play that speaks with gentleness and a ravaging rage.

Into the Dark Woods features the award-winning Blue Teapot Theatre Company, who work with actors and artists with intellectual disabilities at the forefront of arts and disability in Ireland. Blue Teapot Theatre Company are producers of Crossing the Line Festival, a pan-European theatre festival as part of Galway’s European Capital of Culture 2020.
