UCC Department of Theatre & Gaitkrash in collaboration with the Llanarth Group presents a rehearsed reading of Kaite O’Reilly’s play, COSY, directed by Phillip Zarrilli.

What makes a ‘good’ death? Kaite O’Reilly’s play COSY is a dark comedic tour de force for six female performers across three generations (playing ages 16 – 76 years), a hilarious, hard-hitting family drama with serious purpose – an exploration of inheritance, care for the elderly, and controversial issues around end of life. As Rose – matriarch of the family – ages, her health and quality of life begin to fail, and she seeks control over how her life will end. What happens when an individual wants to be assisted in dying?

Kaite O’Reilly is a playwright, radio dramatist, writer, and dramaturg who works both in disability arts and culture and mainstream culture.

This reading is part of a week-long residency with Llanarth Group which sees Phillip Zarrilli and Kaite O’Reilly working intensively with students from the new MA and final year students from the BA in Theatre and Performative Practices, University College Cork.
