Literature: Wired Our Own Way at International Literature Festival Dublin

24 May 2025, 4:00 pm (Past)

Merrion Square, Dublin

One in twenty-seven Irish school children are now diagnosed as autistic. Wired Our Own Way is the moving and insightful collection of new personal essays written by autistic Irish adults.

As understanding about autism spreads, more and more adults are finding out that they are autistic. Contributors to Wired Our Own Way: An Anthology of Irish Autistic Voices explore how the lived-experience of autism varies drastically from one autistic person to another, how important autism identification is, and how the label of ‘autism’ can enhance self-understanding and self-compassion.

This event takes place as part of International Literature Festival Dublin on 24 May at 4pm, in conversation with Wired Our Own Way contributor, Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan.

Niamh Garvey has a Diploma in Autism Studies from UCC, and is a registered general nurse. She writes about autism and neurodiversity.

Jen Wallace works in both verse and prose. She was selected as a Children’s Books Ireland Raising Voices fellow 2022. Her book Dinosaur Pie is illustrated by Alan O’Rourke.

Aisling Walsh is an award-winning writer with work published in The Guardian, The Irish Times, Al Jazeera, Electric Literature, Literary Hub and others. She received an Arts & Disability Connect grant in 2023 and an Irish Writers Centre bursary in 2024..

Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan is a Dublin-based writer, performer and cultural consultant from India. Her work has been published by Dedalus Press, Lifeboat Press, Little Island, Poetry Ireland, Banshee, and Stinging Fly amongst others.
