Film: Departure at the Irish Film Institute (Audio Described and Captioned)

- Audio Description
Beatrice (Juliet Stevenson) and her 15-year-old son Elliot (Alex Lawther) have come to their secluded retreat in the south of France not for a vacation but to clear it out for imminent sale – the house has for Beatrice become a symbol of her recently failed marriage.
A typically self-absorbed teenager, Elliot prefers to wander in the surrounding idyllic woods than assist his mother, and it is there that he spies handsome bilingual Clement (Phénix Brossard) skinny-dipping in the local reservoir and is immediately besotted. Nuanced performances and a delicately achieved tone make Andrew Steggall’s debut feature an endearing portrait of unrequited young love.
These are Open Captioned (OC) screenings that, whilst open to all, feature special captions for those with hearing impairments. Audio Description (AD) is available on all Departure screenings. Visit www.ifi.ie/accessible for more information.
