Dance: Integrated Dance Skills for Professional Dancers with Croi Glán
10 Apr 2024, 10:00 am (Past)
Dance Ireland is delighted to host a professional development day with Croí Glan Integrated Dance Company to expand your skills in inclusive and integrated dance practices.
Have you been curious about working with dancers with a disability but don’t know where to start? Do you have questions about what language to use, or how to adapt movement for different bodies?
This free day-long workshop on Friday 6 June is an opportunity for professional dancers to experience the fabulous world of integrated dance with experienced inclusive dance practitioners Bobbi Byrne and Tara Brandel.
A diversity of bodyminds instead enhances possibilities. No two dancers are exactly alike, each has their own unique inner topography. Integrated practice necessarily embraces this uniqueness, but the approaches involved can be beneficial for all, breaking old patterns and finding new ways to approach movement.
Together you will explore a range of techniques: Movement adaptation and translation, situational disability, close observation and partnering, boredom and repetition and task based creativity.
Croi Glán look forward to opening their current integrated practice to other dance artists, those who work inclusively, those who are curious, to people who have disabilities and do not have disabilities alike.
This free professional development training day is part of a national series of 5 free disabled-led professional training opportunities led by Croí Glan in 2025, funded by the Arts Council and supported by DCFC, Dance Ireland, Irish Aerial Creation Space, Dance Limerick and Galway Dance Project.
