Dance Cork Firkin Crane are delighted to host Adam Benjamin for an inclusive dance workshop in February 2025.

Inclusive Dance Cork will host a 2 day workshop with Adam Benjamin on 2 and 3 February 2025 from 10am to 5pm each day, exploring inclusive dance methodologies, improvisation techniques and collaborative practice.

About the workshop host

Adam is a renowned choreographer, educator, and pioneer of integrated dance. He was co-founder and artistic director of Candoco Dance Company, the first professional company for dancers with and without a disability. Adam’s accolades include a TimeOut London Performance Award and a National Teaching Fellowship. His seminal book, Making an Entrance, is a key text in the field. He has choreographed for companies such as Vertigo Dance Company, Scottish Dance Theatre and Croí Glan Integrated Dance and has led major projects around the world. His teaching and facilitation are widely sought after, combining his expertise in improvisation, choreography, and inclusive dance practice he continues to innovate through projects likeThe Dancers’ Forest.

This workshop is open to individuals with and without disabilities, including dance practitioners, movement artists, and anyone interested in exploring inclusive dance practice.

How to apply and workshop details

The workshop will take place Sunday 2 and Monday 3 February from 10am to 5pm on both days, and will take place at Dance Cork Firkin Crane. The participant fee is €50 and you can register by visiting dancecorkfirkincrane.ie

Five bursaries are available to cover the application fee, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Friday 10 January. Bursary awards will be announced by 14 January 2025.

About Inclusive Dance Cork

Inclusive Dance Cork is a training programme for people with and without disabilities who are interested in learning inclusive dance methods. It is designed for dancers to explore expressive movement and discuss a variety of ways to dance, facilitate, and support dancers of all abilities.

Initially conceived by Yvonne Coughlan, chairperson of Dance Cork Firkin Crane, this ambitious programme is made possible by all of its collaborators, with its home being at Dance Cork Firkin Crane.
