Children’s Events: Sensory Friendly Events at Axis Ballymun
19 Jul - 23 Aug 2024 (Past)
Axis Ballymun is hosting a series of sensory friendly events for children as part of their kids summer programme.
Join Axis Ballymun and Dublin City Council for family fun at sensory friendly play sessions and two sensory friendly films as part of their summer programme, which also includes productions Trolland, Dreamtrain, and Stories and Songs for young children.
Sensory Friendly Play Session Wednesday 14 August at 10am and 12pm
Come down to axis for some fun sensory play with Dublin City Council and Axis. Enjoy soft play, sensory games and space to explore and imagine. These play sessions are for children who could benefit from some quiet sensory play and their families. Spaces are extremely limited and children must be supervised by adults at all times.
This event will have limited attendance so that children with additional needs and their families can relax and enjoy the experience, we thank you in advance for leaving these spaces available for young people who need it most. If you’d like to attend, please email reception@axisballymun.ie to tell us how many children will be joining on the day from your family, what age they are, and please inform us of any allergies or extra accommodations that may help your child have a positive experience. There will be tea, coffee available for adults.
Sensory Friendly Screenings
Tickets are €2, and numbers will be limited to ensure comfort and a relaxed space will be available outside the theatre for children who need a sensory break or need to come and go. Sound will be lower and gentle lighting will be on throughout the auditorium.
Zootropolis Friday 19 July at 12pm
Zootropolis is a city like no other. But when optimistic Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being a bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking fox, Nick Wilde.
Sing Friday 23 August at 12pm
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theatre that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theatre above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
