Three performers hold seagull puppets in front of a small cream and blue boat. The performers are staggered in height, with one crouched lowest on the left hand side, and two to the right standing, so the birds are flying upwards in a flock.

Accessible Children’s Performances: Making Waves Tour

25 Jan - 23 Mar 2024 (Past)

Nationwide Tour

‘Making Waves’ by Jess Rowell Dance, 9 Week National Tour January to March 2024

An immersive multi-sensory dance theatre performance designed specifically for children aged 8 to 13 years with mild to more complex needs. A magical sea voyage in which the audience and performers set sail in search of hidden treasure. Along the way they encounter rolling waves, sparkling fish and swooping gulls.

Making Waves is accompanied by an accessible touring model. This features schools shows and workshops on weekdays and integrated family shows on weekends with wrap-around activities to support audience members, teachers, carers and guardians, ensuring deeper engagement for all. All performances are relaxed and non-verbal.

Schools performances include a pre-show workshop in schools and a creative manual for teachers.

Family show ticket holders will receive a digital social story prior to their visit to the theatre.

Jess Rowell is supported by Branar Meitheal 2022-2023. This production was originally created in 2021 as part of Jess Rowell’s Dance Residency in Draíocht which was supported by The Arts Council, with additional funding provided by Fingal County Council and Draíocht, Blanchardstown.
