Opportunity: Roscommon Arts Centre Artist in Residence Open Call
Posted: 7 January, 2025
Roscommon Arts Centre announce their artist in residence opportunities for 2025.
Roscommon Arts Centre will offer four residency opportunities under their Artist in Residence (AIR) programme through an open call.
New Voice Residency
The New Voice residency is specifically for an artist or collective with an idea or project, who would benefit from receiving support to further develop the project. This residency is specific to individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, including those based on age, civil or family status, disability, gender, membership of the Traveller Community, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. This residency aligns with The Arts Council’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Implementation Plan, recognising the challenges faced by such artists who are striving to advance their careers and enhance their artistic practice.
Seed Residency
The Seed Residency will offer an opportunity to an artist to start or develop a new idea and who would benefit from time and space in a studio or workshop setting with access to mentored support and resources.
Next Steps Residency
The Next Steps Residency will offer an opportunity to an established artist or collective to develop an already existing idea and who would benefit from time and space in a studio or workshop setting with access to mentored support and resources with a possible view to applying for a Project Award or similar Arts Council grant or which may be considered for support in 2026 directly by Roscommon Arts Centre.
Show Development in partnership with Motion Chapel
The Show Development Residency is an exciting new partnership with Roscommon’s newest residency space Motion Chapel and Roscommon County Council Arts Office. Suitable for companies or artists who would like time to remount a piece of work or develop existing work further with support of a residency time and space in Motion Chapel and time to work on technical aspects within the Roscommon Arts Centre’s studio or workshops space and auditorium. Suitable for ground based artforms or artists in the process of creating or remounting an indoor show for theatres and arts centres, open to circus, dance, movement, theatre or multidisciplinary artforms. Please note there are no rigging points in Motion Chapel for aerial artforms.
The closing date for applications is midnight, Friday 31 January 2025.
