Open Call: Connections Arts Centre launches Connecting Artists 2023
Posted: 15 February, 2023
Connecting Artists is a programme designed for visual artists with intellectual disabilities who wish to develop their creative practice
The programme is designed to elevate the talent within this community, and prepare participants for exhibiting their art and the development of the ambition to sell their work. Connections Arts Centre are delighted to have the support of the Royal College of Surgeons (RSCI) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit since this programme commenced.
How Does Connecting Artists Work?
The Connecting Artists programme works online over 10 weeks, with an in-person art exhibition to be held at the end of the programme in the magnificent Royal College of Surgeons College Hall in Dublin 2. 10 artists will be selected from all over Ireland.
Each week, these artists will participate in an online group art session, via Zoom video call. In these sessions, artists will work with each other with the guidance of highly experienced facilitator and artist Sharon Devlin to develop their creative practice and work towards exhibiting their work.
Each artist will also have a separate weekly online session with a dedicated mentor, who will provide one to one support and guidance in developing their creative practice. Throughout the programme, each artist will gradually work on a piece of art to be included in the group exhibition held at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin.
