2017 VSA International Young Soloists Competition

This program is open to musicians with disabilities ages 14-25. Soloists and ensembles of any instrument or genre including but not limited to classical, jazz, hip-hop, rap, rock/alt rock, pop, indie, bluegrass, folk, country, R&B/blues, Latin, World and more are welcome to apply! All instruments, including voice, are accepted.
Since 1984, the VSA International Young Soloists Program has identified talented musicians who have a disability. The VSA International Young Soloists Competition annually selects up to four outstanding musicians from the United States and the international arena, and supports and encourages them in their pursuit of a career.
These emerging musicians receive $2,000, professional development opportunities, and a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
The Kennedy Center Office of VSA and Accessibility is now accepting applications for the 2017 VSA International Young Soloists Competition. The deadline to apply is February 8, 2017.
Each year four outstanding musicians receive the VSA International Young Soloists Award, consisting of:
- $2,000 to further your studies and career
- A trip to Washington, DC to perform at the Kennedy Center on Thursday, May 25, which is live-streamed and archived on the Kennedy Center website
- Professional development opportunities at the Kennedy Center during your trip
