Visual Art: KCAT artist Mary Cody solo exhibition at Gallery of Atypical, Belfast

19 Jan - 22 Feb 2019 (Past)

Gallery of Atypical, Belfast

A wealth of colour and texture! Mary Cody’s solo exhibition String opens on Saturday, 19th January rat the University of Atypical, Belfast.

Mary’s practice investigates the material nature of painting today. Through her steady, considered and labour-intensive approach, layers of wool, string and acrylic are carefully articulated onto canvas. Only Mary knows when an artwork is complete and when the optimum level of balance is reached.

Working and living in L’Arche Community in Callan, Mary joined the KCAT Art Course in its first year of operation in the summer of 1999 and subsequently moved on to the KCAT Studio. Mary has exhibited her work in a variety of group shows and in 2004 her artwork was selected for the cover of the National Intellectual Disability Database Report.
Painting is the medium she prefers most, travelling widely within them, depicting a range of landscapes both national and international.
