Galway’s hard work was rewarded last year when it was announced that it had won the bid for hosting European Capital of Culture in 2020.

The work is on-going now as the team and the community prepare for the year-long cultural programme that will highlight the richness and diversity of cultures in Europe and celebrate our shared culture and values and experience as European citizens.

What will the European Capital of Culture mean for Galway?

Creative Europe Mini-Showcase will shine a spotlight on Ireland’s participation in the Creative Europe programme and looking to 2020.

With this special focus on European collaboration in Galway we thought it was an opportune time to spotlight Ireland’s involvement in European culture projects supported by the Creative Europe culture sub-programme.

Join us for this free event during the Galway International Arts Festival to hear from three Irish projects on their experiences of transnational culture projects, the joys, the pitfalls and why they do it. This mini-showcase will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by Benita Lipps of the DaVinci Institute followed by a networking reception.
